Wayne McFarland

Chairman & CEO

An attorney and successful serial entrepreneur, Wayne founded SynTech Bioenergy to identify, incubate, accelerate, develop and commercialize the world’s most advanced thermochemical conversion processes and end-of-waste solutions. Wayne’s expertise in environmental law & policy, global manufacturing, renewable energy and retail energy markets has helped him to lead SynTech toward becoming the leader in delivering sustainable clean energy and end-of-waste solutions on a global scale.


Kamal Kalsi, Ph.D.

CEO SynTech Bioenergy UK, Ltd.

Dr. Kalsi holds a PhD and MEng in Aerothermal Engineering, both obtained with distinction from Cambridge University, England, and has more than eight years of experience in the technical and commercial direction of renewable energy projects utilizing liquid and solid biomass, with a strong focus on commercial applications of existing gasification technologies to waste derived feedstocks. Kamal is the principal inventor of significant intellectual property covering novel and commercially robust gas clean-up and power generation solutions for a variety of gasification based processes and project scales and has carried out extensive technical and commercial due diligence on over 20 gasification projects and has practical experience in project development, plant design, delivery and operation through various plant types built for the European market. He has also developed complex gasification projects in Europe and Africa and has successfully led technical teams in competitive tender bids successfully.


Jason Erickson

Chief Marketing Officer

Jason is an experienced executive team builder and project manager.  He heads up all marketing and sales efforts for SynTech worldwide. Prior to joining SynTech, Jason gained extensive manufacturing experience as an Area Manager for Edward C. Levy Steel Mill Services Company. Jason began his professional career in the U.S. Navy as a Diesel Engine Mechanic and Gas Turbine Systems Technician. He then served as a Surface Warfare Officer and a Foreign Area Officer specializing in the East Asian area of operations. Jason earned a B.A. from Old Dominion University, and is PMP certified. He also holds an MBA from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler School of Business.


Long He

Chief Technology Officer

Dr. He is experienced in innovative renewable energy technologies, finance and global markets. Before joining SynTech Bioenergy in 2014, Long earned PhD in Solar Cell Physics and Graduate Energy Certificate from National Renewable Energy Laboratory and CU-Boulder, and he served independent consulting for Colorado Governor's Energy Office to study the biomass energy policies. At SynTech, Long is instrumental for SynTech's acquisitions and operations of BioMax and LiquiMax technologies. He leads our efforts in developing our BioMax massive production facilities in China and identifying project opportunities in Asia. He also heads our technology strategies and R&D processes.


Doug McFarland

Sr.VP, Manufacturing & Engineering

Doug brings to SynTech 20+ years' experience beginning in liquid fuels R&D, production and planning at Amoco (BP). His expertise lies in project management, manufacturing, enterprise resource planning, efficiencies, supply chain management and continuous improvement. Doug has served as VP of Manufacturing, responsible for profit and customer satisfaction across multiple plants, and served as General Manager of Community Power Corporation at the operational level.


Gili Elkin

Managing director, strategic growth

Experienced Business Development Executive with a demonstrated history of working in the venture capital industry. Skilled in Corporate Finance, Entrepreneurship, Venture Capital, Strategy, and Strategic Partnerships. LL.B and BA (Law and Business Administration) from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
